Our Mission
We exist to invite people into a vibrant and growing relationship with God, by being a Christ-centered community, transformed and transforming through service.
How it all started...
The Point is to Serve was launched from First Baptist Church, Sioux Falls in 2007. Allen and Denise Kjesbo (who had served in ministry at First Baptist for 17 years) were sent out as Church Planters along with about 70 adults and children from First Baptist and the broader community. The official launch date was March 25, 2007. We started meeting at Apple Tree Day Care in Sioux Falls and purchased the Sertoma Bingo Hall in YEAR. We have had the amazing experience of serving through partnering with many churches, faith-based organizations, and nonprofits in Sioux Falls. Service is an integral part of who we are as a faith community. We believe God transforms through service and that we are being transformed as we serve in the name of Jesus. We have "gone wide" in service experiencing being the hands, feet and, when given the opportunity, the voice of Jesus in our community, our region and around the world. We have followed an externally-focused model of church life in which people offer good deeds to develop good will and create a bridge across which the Good News can travel.
